MASTER PLANNING

Framework

Shaping the space between structures.

Planning isn’t just about zoning or layout, it’s about designing how people move, gather, and live. At ABM, master planning is a process of spatial storytelling, where density, context, and infrastructure are choreographed with purpose. Every site is different. Every plan is a response.

Vision at scale. Precision in context.

We don’t see planning as a static act it’s dynamic, adaptive, and deeply human. Whether it’s a new civic precinct, an urban infill, or a campus expansion, we design site frameworks that are legible, flexible, and connected.

A strong master plan doesn’t just arrange buildings it defines how they’ll interact, grow, and contribute over time.

Our Approach
to Master Planning

We treat master planning as a layered system. Scale, movement, sunlight, access, and natural topography, each one becomes a design tool. We plan with surgical intent, blending technical precision with a long-view understanding of how communities function and evolve. Our role is not to control space, but to anticipate and support how it will be used.

Plans are not maps. They’re movements
  • Our plans consider sequence and time, not just boundaries.

  • Zoning becomes a framework for experience, not a constraint.

  • We design with adaptability in mind, flexible to future unknowns.

Circulation is choreography
  • Pedestrian flow, vehicular access, and mobility systems are all orchestrated.

  • We plan transitions and edges as carefully as we plan buildings.

  • Movement isn’t a layer added later. It’s embedded from the start.

Context isn’t a constraint, it’s a catalyst
  • Local conditions, physical, cultural, environmental, guide every decision.

  • History, terrain, and infrastructure become raw material.

  • Good planning listens before it draws.

Deliverables

INSPIRATION

Master planning is where vision meets scale. These projects illustrate how we choreograph space, circulation, and growth whether at the neighbourhood, civic, or institutional level. Each framework balances flexibility with intent, giving form to future use and structure to community evolution.
